Theatre Works Fest returns for its fourth outing from 5–16 January 2027, and what a treat we have in store.

This January, Theatre Works Fest will once again bring together artists, performers and theatre-makers together offering  an amazing selection of workshops, masterclasses, and development opportunities.

Our flagship three-day masterclass returns, with one of the world’s leading theatre practitioners coming to Belfast to deliver an intensive three-day exploration of their practice. Previous masterclasses have been at the heart of Theatre Works Fest, and we can’t wait to reveal who will be joining us in 2027.

For the first time, we’ll also dedicate two full days to dance and movement, led by two of Northern Ireland’s leading choreographers and dancers.  Through practical workshops, they’ll open up their creative processes and explore how they generate ideas, develop movement and turn those ideas into new work.

The hugely successful MANIFEST is also back. Six artists or groups will be given dedicated time, space and support to explore their practice, experiment with new ideas and develop new work.  With a work-in-progress showing on the final night.

And in 2027, Theatre Works Fest is heading beyond Belfast for the first time.

As the festival continues to grow, we want to make it accessible to artists from across Northern Ireland.  Part of this year’s programme will take place outside Belfast, creating new opportunities to connect artists, practices and communities from across the region.
