Masterclass with Complicité

We are delighted to announce as part of Theatre Works Fest NI, our favourite theatre company, Complicité will be coming to Belfast to hold a three day Masterclass hosted by Joyce Henderson.

This three-day workshop led by Complicité, invites artists to come together and during the course of the workshop start building an ensemble through physical training and play. You will encounter games and exercises that have grown from Complicité’s practices. The work will increase participants’ awareness and sensitivity to the communicative power that lies in the relationship between the performer, movement, theatrical space and physical expression, before exploring how to use this work as a creative tool to tell rich imaginative stories to audiences.

Joyce Henderson is a Movement Practitioner and Performer who studied with Lecoq and has been an associate of Complicité since 1992, performing in productions including The Street of Crocodiles and The Magic Flute.  Teaching movement, she has worked on productions including: The Importance of Being Earnest (National Theatre/West End), Bleak Expectations & Noises Off (West End), Amédée (Birmingham Rep) and The Marriage of Figaro (Aix). In 2012, she was a movement assistant on the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

In 2024, Joyce directed The Frogs with Spymonkey and previously worked with Julie Cunningham and Company.
